The State Commander of the agency, Mr. Frank Hannachor who confirmed the arrest of the suspects to journalists in Asaba, gave their names as Obinna Agbo (27), Emeka Eze (34), Ebo Ahaah (25) and Odo Ejike (27).
Hannachor added that the suspects were handed over to the police at the State Criminal Investigation Department for further prosecution.
Decrying the increasing use of illicit drugs across the state and among the youths, the NDLEA commander further disclosed that the agency was determined to make the difference with a view to eradicating all forms of illicit drug users and their activities in the state.
He said, “We are determined under my command to rid the state of all forms of illicit drug users. The four suspected ritualists were arrested by our men on a routine patrol within Ogwashi-Uku, Ubulu-Uku, Benin-Asaba Expressway and we have handed them over to the police after we recovered illicit materials from them.”
Hannacho warned those who had been indulging in illicit drug trafficking to shun the act, maintaining that the long arm of the agency will not spare anybody caught in the act.
Meanwhile, the State Command of the NDLEA said it had arrested 24 males and females between the month of January and March 2016 for their involvement in illicit drug trafficking.
The agency disclosed that it confiscated large quantity of cannabis sativa and cocaine, adding that 22 suspects were convicted for trafficking illicit drugs and other related offences within the period under review.
