PDP BoT in moves to form strong opposition against APC

BOARD of Trustees, BoT of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP will meet tomorrow as part of moves to have a postmortem on the last Presidential election where the party lost to the All Progressives Congress, APC.
According to the Secretary, BoT, Senator Walid Jubrin, the meeting which is slated for Wednesday in Abuja would look at issues affecting the party, its present status as an opposition political party in Nigeria, how to form a strong opposition, to reposition the party, among others.
The BoT meeting according to a source would prepare grounds for the Sentor Ike Ekweremadu led Post election Assessment Committee which has now been given up till end of this month to submit its report.
It was however not clear if the party will also discuss on who should become the National Chairman of the party following the untimely resignation of its immediate past National chairman, Alhaji Adamu Mu’azu and his exit has allowed for his deputy, Prince Uche Secondus to take over in his capacity.
When Vanguard called the PDP National Publicity Secretary, Chief Olisa Metuh if there would be a meeting of the National Executive Committee, NEC, he note that NEC would not hold after the BoT meeting against the backdrop that the leadership of the party would have to wait for the report of Senator Ike Ekweremadu’s committee.
Meanwhile, PDP governors met in Abuja yesterday night to brainstorm on issues relating to how to restructure the party, just as it was gathered that the meeting discussed their position ahead of the meeting of all the governors who will today meet with President Muhammadu Buhari in Abuja.
Tuesday’s meeting is said to be at the discretion of the governors and the agenda as gathered was centred on the cash-crush presently being faced by the states and the cash-crunch has made it difficult for majority of them to pay salaries of civil servants in their states.
As at 10.56pm yesterday, the meeting was still on going.
Governors at the meeting were Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi (Enugu), Darius Isiaku (Taraba), Olusegun Mimiko (Ondo), John Jonah (Bayelsa), Ifeanyi Okowa (Delta), Okezie Ikpeazu (Abia), Ayo Fayose (Ekiti), Idris Wada (Kogi), Nysome Wike (Rivers), Udo Emmanuel (Akwa Ibom), Dave Umahi(Ebonyi).
